What comes to your mind when you think about water? Hydration, stillness, purity? Perhaps oceans and rivers? What about pollution and scarcity? What does it look and sound like? Which aspects of life are influenced by it? Can you link water with movement?
A group of students has come together to convey their conglomerated perspectives regarding water, as well as to confront critically the theme. This experimental documentary seeks answers on the questions above in the form of a poetic and performative style. The collective work uses video and sound recordings in both expressive and political forms, to explore water’s pure aesthetic sense, its contribution as a resource for everyday life and its role as basic need of living things.
This documentary was produced as part of a workshop held by the Institut fur Theater-, Film- und Medienwissenschaft at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. The students had about four days to conceptualize, shoot, and edit a short film.
